A fabulous sports and grand-touring machine in the great tradition of midengined production Ferraris, this 2005 Ferrari 360 Spider exemplifies the significant advances in technology and performance that Ferrari established with such flair at the dawn of the 21st century. Its predecessor, the F355, was a challenge to the old guard who insisted that a “real” Ferrari could only have a V-12 engine. Incredibly beautiful and well-engineered, the 355 left its competitors alone on the horizon behind it, surpassing even the 512 TR in every aspect of performance; it was also a much-needed sales success that helped right Ferrari’s listing fortunes. Nonetheless, Ferrari once again set a new standard with the 360 Modena in 1999. Named after its 3.6L V-8 and the northern Italian town where Enzo Ferrari was born, the Modena was an extraordinary break from the norm. Boasting headlamps with clear lenses and hyper-curvaceous bodywork, it was unlike any Ferrari before it and arguably catapulted Ferrari styling into the new millennium. The 360 made extensive use of aluminum, and although it was a larger car than the 355, it was considerably lighter and stiffer. The 3.6L V-8 engine produced 400 HP and was noted as one of the smoothest V-8s ever designed. A 6-speed manual transmission was standard, but an electrohydraulic manual F1 transmission controlled by paddles behind the steering wheel was also available. The F1 transmission made shifting just shy of instantaneous and gave drivers the sense of driving an F1 race car. In 2001, the 360 Spider joined the lineup and quickly supplanted Modena coupe sales. In 2005, Ferrari 360 production ceased when it was superseded by the 430. This Ferrari 360 Spider F1 features the paddle-shifting gearbox and has only covered 13,018 miles. It is further equipped with power windows, 4-wheel disc brakes and an Alpine stereo. The black interior presents very well and the Savini wheels and Pirelli tires exquisitely set off the striking black exterior.
